Each season I will feature an idea that can look beautiful and opulent, yet be a money saver.

One challenge I encountered last summer was long narrow dinning tables. Often this seating arrangement is shown with many very tall and very expensive centerpieces lined up down the center of the table. Another commonly seen decoration is many, many tightly packed low vases of expensive flowers lined up very close together down the center of the table. Very often this seating arrangement is used for a rehearsal dinner, but I also had several weddings using “Harvest Table Seating”. When shown photos of arrangements like these, I stated the price, and encountered a lot of sticker shock.

Here are photos of two designs to decorate long tables, and keep the cost down.

In both I keep the arrangements just below eye level, not tall, yet not short. In each the containers carried some of the visual weight, to cut the cost of flowers.

In the first one large green leaves were placed inside inexpensive glass containers and the very top packed with deep rich colored flowers and greenery. These were done for $15.00 each including the vase.

In the second small green rental urns were used ($2.00 ea. to rent) and the whole rehearsal dinner was done for $100.00 plus vase rental and delivery. The hotel kept the small arrangements overnight in their refrigerator and the next day they were placed in groups and used on the buffet and bar for the wedding.
